Sugar Minott IS BACK!!!

Sugar Minott IS BACK!!!

TWO albums by Sugar Minott are scheduled for release in the next six months, according to his widow, Maxine Stowe.

In an interview with the Jamaica Observer, she said the songs are produced by Clement “Coxson” Dodd, and Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare.

The albums are the first major projects to be released since Minott’s death in May 2010 at age 53.

“His estate was under duress but all of that is kind of clearing up. We’ll be launching a website (sugarminott.com) soon with details,” said Stowe.

Some of Minott’s biggest hit songs were produced by Dodd and Sly and Robbie. Dodd, Stowe’s uncle, was behind the singer’s early success which came at his Studio One label in the late 1970s.

Vanity, Mr DC and A House is Not A Home helped make Minott a force in the dancehall.

Sly and Robbie were on top of their game with the Taxi label when they linked with Minott in the mid-1980s. They produced his ganja anthem Herbman Hustling, Devil Pickney and Tune In.
